We open on our
lead character MARCUS entering through the front doors, dressed in full SWAT
regalia. He narrates.
MARCUS (V.O.)
Statistically speaking, the chances of you
dying in an explosion as a result of
a bomb are about the same as you being in a plane crash. It happens but we're
the ones who are there to make sure it doesn't happen. They say it takes a
different kind of man to run into a burning building. It takes that same kind
of man to run into a building wired with explosives.
Marcus moves
through the hallway, and enters the locker room. A couple of his co-workers are
there, getting dressed for the day. We are introduced to JOSE, RJ, and VINCE.
JOSE
Yo, Marcus,
lemme axe you somethin'.
Let's say you out rollin witcha
boy and he's all like lets get some ass tonight, and you're like, aight. I'm down.
So we roll up to a club, and you find out your boy...
well... he ain't your boy the way you thought he was
you know?
VINCE
So you mean he's gay?
JOSE
Man, I waddn't
talkin to you.
MARCUS
Is he?
JOSE
Naww man,
if he was gay, I'd have known. No man, I mean, he likes big fat ass chicks, you
know? I don't mean like size 8-10 fat, I mean fat droopin
out the sweater fat. I mean girls so fat when they bend over they open up a
McDonalds.
MARCUS
So he likes big women... who cares?
JOSE
I do man, I gots
to watch my back man. I can't be seen with no jolly green giant.
Marcus leaves the
conversation, and RJ follows.
RJ
How was the vacation?
MARCUS
Good.
RJ
You rested for Sunday?
MARCUS
Sunday?
RJ
Jesus, don't tell me you forgot. Best
man? My wedding?
MARCUS
Right. Sorry. I've just been kinda lost...
RJ
Get back into it.
From another part
of the locker room a female voice is heard. It belongs to KAT.
KAT
Alright boys, I'm comin
in, put your pants on if you don't want me to catch a glimpse of what you don't
have.
Marcus turns back
around the corner and sees KAT. Standing next to her is another, younger,
female ELLIE.
KAT
We've got a live one
boys.
RJ
No shit?
KAT
We just got the call. It's probably
another prank, but let's go have some fun anyway.
The girls leave
the guys to suit up. As they leave, another man enters the room carrying a
large duffel bag and a uniform. This is DEREK.
DEREK
Hey... I was wondering if anyone here could
help me... I'm looking for Marcus Riley?
The guys look at
Derek.
DEREK
I'm guessing one of you is Marcus.
The guys look away
and start putting on your clothes.
DEREK
Look, Lieutenant Cross told me to find...
Marcus cuts him
off.
MARCUS
Look, I know who you are. The transfer. Suit up, we've got a call.
DEREK
Really? I just got
here.
RJ
Apparently, you're a beacon of bad news
kid.
EXT. OFFICE
BUILDING- LATER
Police cars are already lined up outside a large 20 story office building in
the heart of downtown. Everyone gets out of the van, including their official
leader, Lieutenant CROSS. Everyone is all suited up, except for Ellie, who is
in slightly less gear than the others.
CROSS
Alright Marcus, bring it home.
Ellie is making
sure everyone's sight and sound gear is working.
ELLIE
Everything looks good.
MARCUS
Alright, let's move.
Marcus, RJ, Kat,
Vince, Derek, and Jose all move toward the building. Ellie hops back into the
van and gets on the computer. Within seconds, she's pulled up all the visuals
from their cameras. She grabs a headset for herself and puts it on.
ELLIE
Alright, you're all online.
Marcus approaches
the front door and pulls out a cellphoneish device
and attaches it to the door. It beeps and Marcus opens the front door. We cut
back to the van. Cross is now in the van with Ellie.
ELLIE
What's the deal here anyway?
CROSS
We think it's probably just a joke, but
some guy called in and said there are
20 bombs in the building that will explode in an hour.
We cut back to the
team as they enter the foyer area. RJ walks over to the elevators leading
upstairs and notices an explosive device rigged to the door.
RJ
Found one.
Vince jogs over to
help him.
MARCUS
Alright, this is the real deal. Split
up in pairs, let's find 19 more. Kat
take Jose, newbie, you're comin with me.
Marcus and Derek
head up the stairs.
MARCUS
We're gonna start
at the top and work our way to the middle. Kat if you start on floor 12, we
might be able to do this.
Kat and Jose
follow Marcus and Derek up the stairs. We cut back to Vince and RJ at the bomb.
RJ
Ellie, you getting this?
ELLIE (V.O.)
Yeah, this is the craziest bomb I've ever
seen. None of the typical colors.
Black and white wiring... I don't even know where this guys
style is from.
RJ
It looks like it's wired to the doors.
VINCE
Let's not open them, then.
ELLIE (V.O.)
Is there a black antenna on the top?
RJ
No.
ELLIE (V.O.)
Alright, never mind. Hold on.
Suddenly, they
hear a "ding". Instinctively, both RJ and Vince jump back from the
bomb.
RJ
It's not the bomb.
RJ notices someone
has activated the elevator. Vince and RJ scramble over to the door.
RJ
Ellie... we've got a situation here.
ELLIE (V.O.)
I've got it.
Vince looks up.
VINCE

ELLIE (V.O.)
First you want to cut both the black
and the white wire at the same time
coming out of the timer.
VINCE

RJ cuts both wires
as told.
ELLIE (V.O.)
Now the white wire should run into the
elevator doors, correct?
RJ
Right.
VINCE

ELLIE (V.O.)
Alright, I need you to attach your SPIDER
to it.
RJ pulls out a
black tube clip device and clips it onto the wire.
VINCE

ELLIE (V.O.)
I can't get through, it's jammed on
the other end. Scrap the spyder.
VINCE

RJ
I need something Ellie.
ELLIE (V.O)
If you sever the black wire that runs from
the C4 to the bomb itself, you can take off the C4 and render the bomb useless.
VINCE
6.
RJ
How long?
ELLIE (V.O.)
Thirty seconds, maybe?
RJ gets to work on
the wires, he starts cutting the black wires.
VINCE.
5.
ELLIE (V.O.)
One more.
RJ cuts the final
wire and drops his wire cutters. He retrieves a large knife and sticks it
behind the bomb, trying to separate the C4 from the bomb.
RJ
It's glued on really tight.
VINCE
4.
RJ struggles with
the C4, but it's not budging. The knife breaks and flips back, cutting his
hand.
RJ
SHIT.
VINCE
Floor 3 man, let's
roll. Forget it.
Vince runs away
from the bomb. RJ stays, pulling out his second pocket knife.
MARCUS (On Headset)
RJ BACK AWAY.
RJ
I can get it.
RJ puts the knife
in place again, and this time starts sawing at it, gradually cutting it off. He
looks up and sees the elevator drop to floor 2. The camera holds on RJ's face
as we fade to black.
